As the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration, the International Organization for Migration is committed to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society alike.

In the Federal Republic of Germany, IOM works with ministries and government agencies such as the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Federal Foreign Office, the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, corresponding state ministries as well as civil society organizations, welfare and diaspora associations.

Areas of work include return and reintegration, resettlement and humanitarian admission, family reunification, crisis response, resource mobilization and psychosocial support.

IOM is part of the United Nations system, as a related organization.
